How does m•doc™ work
m•doc™ acts in three different ways on the blood clotting system
- It can activate platelets
- It has been shown to interact with and activate the intrinsic system. It interacts with individual coagulation proteins and inhibitors providing a ‘scaffold’ for clot formation.
- It also provides a gel-like scaffold structure that acts both physically and as an assembly point for relevant clotting factors.

The Product:
Hemcon’s Nasal Plug product is made from PVA sponge which is impregnated with m•doc™ powder and then compressed.
The nasal plug expands upon contact with blood to form a soft, non-abrasive sponge that fits the shape of the nasal cavity. Haemostatis is achieved firstly through the pressure of the expanded sponge against the nasal cavity, and secondly, as it expands m•doc™ is released which acts on the source of bleeding to stop it fast.
The nasal plug is hypoallergenic and safe for adults and children, the sponges will not stick to the walls of the nose, allowing for easy removal and reducing the risk of renewed bleeding.
Hemcon’s Nasal Plug product has received a Professional Endorsement from the U.K. Haemophilia Society and has been found to be specifically useful for Von Willebrands disease sufferers, where regular nosebleeds are a major symptom eliminating the need for hospital visits.
Not recommended for use on very small children under the age of five.
